Born from a love of paper goods and a small obsession with buying cards (even when it's nobody's Birthday!), The Modest Lobster is here for all of your little acts of love and kindness.
Every moment that brings you joy should be celebrated, and we're on a mission to bring you all the right tools!
A bit of background
After nearly 12 years working as a creative producer for some amazing (and some not so amazing) brands in the fashion and print industry, some time out (hello furlough) reignited my love for illustration, and so The Modest Lobster was born.
I quickly realised that after having spent years co-ordinating designers, artworkers, photographers, printers, retouchers and art directors, that I wanted to be the one creating the things, rather than watching others do it.
For the trinket magpies
Illustration has always been part of my life, thanks to qualifications in fashion design, graphic design, art and textiles.
I adore colour and print, I am a hoarder of cute stationery (proud child of the 90s here), a collector of greetings cards and a magpie for trinkets and homewares.
There’s nothing better than filling your life and home with the things you love, so it was only natural that I began to design my own cards, art prints and even wedding stationery.
Why though?
Honestly? To create something that can be treasured. Our paper goods are drawn by hand, inspired by the daily goings-on of life. They are then printed individually in our studio on beautiful specially selected papers, before being hand finished and lovingly packaged using sustainable methods.
Having worked with some brilliant large-scale print companies over the years, there is something special about going back to a more bespoke approach - from sourcing the best paper to finding the perfect colour envelope 💖
